Delete your account
Effective date: August 28, 2026
This page explains how to delete your GCENA account (app ID com.gcena.gcena), what is erased, and the small amount we are required to keep. You do not need the app installed to make the request.
1. Hide it, or delete it
If you only want a break, open GCENA and go to Settings → Account & Security → Deactivate Account. Your wall, Campfire posts, and Discover listing are hidden. Nothing is deleted. Friends can still message you. Come back whenever you want.
To erase the account, go to Settings → Account & Security → Delete Account. The app shows you a summary of what will be removed, asks you to confirm, and then deletes the account immediately. This is the fastest route and nothing else is needed afterwards.
2. Ask us, by email
If you can no longer sign in or no longer have the app, email support@gcena.com from the email address on the account, with the subject Delete my account. We may ask one question to confirm the account is yours. We complete verified requests within 30 days and write back when it is done.
3. What is deleted
- Your sign-in account and password credentials.
- Your profile: display name, photo, bio, mood, and any location you typed.
- Your birth year (the year you gave after sign-in, not a full date of birth).
- Your posts and their photos and videos, and the files behind them.
- Your My Day photos and videos (they also expire on their own after 24 hours).
- Your Safe Space conversations with Ciel — Duo/Trio sessions on our server, and any "Just us" (solo) history stored only on your own device, which leaves with the app when you sign out or uninstall.
- Your friends list, friend requests, blocks, and reactions.
- The comments you left, both on your own posts and under other people's posts. If an older copy of a comment survives anywhere, it no longer shows your name or photo.
- Your notification tokens, so the app can no longer reach your devices.
This covers every place your data lives: Google Firebase, our own database in Germany (Hetzner), and our media storage (Cloudflare R2). Media files are removed by a scheduled cleanup shortly after the account record is deleted.
4. What we keep, and why
A small amount of information survives deletion. We keep it because the law requires it or because it is not ours alone to erase.
- Payment and payout records. Subscription, tip, and payout entries are accounting records. French and EU tax law requires us to retain them, so we keep the amounts and dates and strip out the personal detail attached to them.
- Messages you sent to other people. A message you sent also sits in the other person's conversation, the same way an email you sent stays in the recipient's inbox. Theirs stays with them, but it is detached from you and no longer shows your name or photo.
- Safety and abuse records. If your account was reported or actioned, we keep the minimum needed to enforce our rules and stop repeat abuse.
5. Before you delete
Deletion cannot be undone, and we cannot restore an account afterwards. A few things worth doing first:
- Cancel your subscription. Deleting your GCENA account does not cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription. Cancel it in the store, or it keeps renewing.
- Withdraw any earnings. Creator tips and any ad share on the same balance that you have not yet withdrawn are lost on deletion.
- Save anything you want to keep. Photos and videos you posted are removed from our storage and cannot be recovered.
Paid Points you bought are consumable in-app items. Unspent Paid Points and Fun Points are lost on deletion and are not refundable by us; refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies.
6. Questions
Email support@gcena.com and a real person will answer. The full detail of what we collect and how long we hold it is in our Privacy Policy.
