GCENA ("we", "us", "our") operates the GCENA mobile application and website at gcena.com. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
1. Who we are
GCENA is a social and emotional wellness app that includes companion chat (Ciel), personal profiles (Keepsake), friend connections (Inner Circle), community feed (Campfire), and private chat spaces (Safe Space).

2. Information we collect
We collect only what is needed to run the app:
- Account information — email address, display name, profile photo, and sign-in method (such as Google Sign-In).
- Profile and content — posts, photos, short videos, comments, likes, profile text, and chat messages you create or send.
- Social activity — friend connections, group chats, and interactions in Inner Circle and Campfire.
- AI companion messages — text you send to Ciel in Safe Space or group modes, so we can generate replies and keep conversation history you choose to save.
- Voice and calls — if you use voice features or Inner Circle audio calls, audio is used only while the feature is active. We do not sell voice recordings. Call signaling data (such as call status and connection metadata) may be stored temporarily to connect calls.
- Device and app data — basic device type, operating system version, app version, and crash/diagnostic data to keep GCENA stable.
- Subscription status — whether you have an active premium subscription, as confirmed by Apple App Store or Google Play (we do not receive your full payment card details).
3. How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Create and secure your account
- Provide chat, social, profile, and community features
- Deliver AI companion responses through our secure backend
- Store and display your posts and media across your devices
- Connect voice calls between users when you choose to call
- Process subscriptions and restore purchases
- Moderate reports, enforce community rules, and keep users safe
- Fix bugs, prevent abuse, and improve reliability
4. What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal data.
- We do not show third-party advertising in GCENA.
- We do not use your content to train public advertising profiles.
- We do not access your camera, microphone, or photo library in the background.
5. Service providers we use
To operate GCENA, we use trusted infrastructure and service providers, including:
- Google Firebase — authentication, database, and app backend services
- Cloudflare — secure media storage, app backend services, and website hosting
- AI providers — text processing for Ciel companion replies through our secure backend
- Apple App Store / Google Play — subscription billing and purchase validation
These providers process data only as needed to deliver the service. We require them to protect your information under their own security and privacy obligations.
6. Permissions
GCENA requests device permissions only when you use a related feature:
- Camera — when you take a photo to post or share
- Photos — when you choose images from your gallery
- Microphone — when you speak to Ciel or join a voice call
You can revoke permissions anytime in your device settings.
7. Data retention
We keep your data while your account is active and as needed to provide the service. When you delete content or your account, we delete or anonymize associated data within a reasonable period, except where we must keep limited records for legal, security, or billing compliance.
8. Your rights and choices
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your account and data
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Export your data where applicable
You can delete your account in the app under Settings → Delete Account, or email support@gcena.com for privacy requests.
GCENA is designed with GDPR and CCPA principles in mind. If you are in the European Economic Area or California, you may contact us to exercise your privacy rights.
9. Children
GCENA is intended for users aged 13 and older, or the minimum age required in your country. Users under 18 should use the app with parental or guardian guidance. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below the applicable minimum age. If you believe a child has provided us data improperly, contact us and we will take appropriate action.
10. International transfers
Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including where our service providers operate. We take steps to protect your data when it is transferred internationally.
11. Security
We use encryption in transit (TLS/HTTPS), access controls, and industry-standard safeguards to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work continuously to reduce risk.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and update the effective date above. Continued use of GCENA after changes means you accept the updated policy.
